INSTALLATION & HELP

A few minutes
to your first words.

Sayble includes a 7-day trial with no card required, then a $29 one-time license for 2 personal Macs. Current version: 0.1.5 (11).

Before you start

You need an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later), macOS 14 or later, at least 16 GB of memory, and an internet connection for the initial model download. The default model download is about 483 MB. Allow extra free disk space for installation and compilation.

Install and set up

  1. Download the Sayble DMG, open it, drag Sayble to Applications, and eject the disk image.
  2. Open Sayble from Applications. It lives in the menu bar.
  3. Allow Microphone access when requested. In System Settings → Privacy & Security, grant Sayble Accessibility access. Quit and reopen Sayble if macOS asks.
  4. Open Settings… → Models in Sayble’s menu to download the default model. Wait until it is ready. The first preparation may take longer while macOS compiles the model.
  5. Choose License… from Sayble’s menu. Once your model and permissions are ready, click Start Free Trial. The seven days start now, not during setup.
  6. Open a blank note, place the cursor in it, hold Fn, and speak a short sentence. Release Fn and check the inserted text.

Trial & license activation

The trial lasts 168 hours. No automatic payment follows. After it ends, new dictations pause. A recording already in progress can finish normally.

Purchase Sayble, then copy your key from the Polar customer portal. In Sayble → License…, paste it and click Activate License. Connect once to activate; after that, your purchased version works offline. Close the license window before dictating into your chosen app.

A license covers 2 personal Macs. Reinstalling on the same Mac preserves the license in Keychain. If your saved license is gone, activate the same key again; an existing activation for that Mac is reused. To move to a different Mac, free an activation in the customer portal and stop using the paid app on the old Mac.

If your Mac cannot connect, use manual activation on another device. Copy the Mac code from Sayble → License… → Activate using another device, then transfer the resulting certificate back to Sayble.

A refunded or revoked key cannot issue new activations. If activation stays pending, contact yuri.istom@gmail.com. Do not buy another license to retry.

Full refunds are available within 14 days of purchase. Demo keys from older payment-preview builds do not unlock the paid release.

Everyday controls

Settings

Open Settings… from Sayble’s menu, or press Command-comma while its window is active. General lets you choose Fn/Globe, Right Option or Right Command, select a microphone and launch Sayble at login. Languages are recognized automatically, including mixed-language speech.

Models contains speech-model downloads and Improve Text (Experimental). The optional editing model downloads about 1.75 GB and runs locally. Privacy contains clipboard restoration, local history and permission controls. Settings can be changed after the current dictation finishes.

Recover a past dictation

Open Dictation History from Sayble’s menu to find past text and copy it again. History is stored only on this Mac. If an insertion was not confirmed, you can recover the text here. Manage saved history in Settings… → Privacy; turning it off deletes the saved entries.

Updating Sayble

Choose Sayble → Check for Updates… in the macOS menu bar while a Sayble window is active, or use Check for Updates… in Sayble’s menu-bar icon. Follow the update window to download, install and relaunch. Updates are checked only when you ask; Sayble verifies signed update information and signed downloads before installation.

Your downloaded models, preferences and Keychain license stay on your Mac. If your version has no Check for Updates… command, download the latest DMG once, quit Sayble and replace it in Applications. Future updates can then be installed from the app.

If the key does nothing

Check that the speech model is ready and that the microphone is available. Check Sayble’s permissions in System Settings. If another dictation app uses Fn, quit it while testing Sayble. macOS may also assign a system action to the Fn/Globe key in Keyboard settings.

If words are not inserted

Check Accessibility permission and confirm that the intended text field still has focus. Try a plain text editor to distinguish an app-specific issue. Protected fields and some custom editors can behave differently. Always review the result before sending a message.

Remove Sayble and its models

  1. Quit Sayble from the menu bar, then move Sayble from Applications to the Trash.
  2. In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder and open ~/Library/Application Support/Sayble/.
  3. To reclaim model storage, move the Models folder to the Trash. Removing it means downloading the models again if you reinstall.
  4. Remove Sayble’s permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security if you no longer use it.

Report a problem

Reply to the person who sent you this link. Include the Sayble version, macOS version, Mac chip and memory, target app, and the steps that reproduce the problem. Share a harmless example rather than private audio or text. Please do not include sensitive recordings or transcripts.
